In constant demand by both the private and public sector, Dr Ironside built a name for himself as a modern day surgical demi-god.
Both admired by the medical profession but also envied by his peers.
A brash, no-hold-bars slender tall man, with pale skin, freckles, bright red hair and a Gallic temperament to match (Scottish parents) – he suffers no fools.
The constant pressure of perfection and an obscene workload led to an increasing addiction to readily accessible drugs and chemicals.
After a particularly gruelling 12 hour surgery, he mixed his last cocktail...However, an envious colleague (Dr Sven Black) had substituted part of his mix with a lethal infusion of heavy metals.
But instead of certain death, Dr Ironside underwent a change at the genetic level that transformed his life forever. The contents of the ‘cocktail’ have long been forgotten and spilled in the gutter that James found himself in, just hours later.
